Missouri and Mark Twain

Today we made our way out of Illinois and into Missouri!  We spent some time on the Mississippi River and even took a boat tour!  I don't have anything witty to say today, but I will post a few pictures.  These are just a couple of pictures to show our time.  When I get home I will be posting a lot more.

We of course had to sing Deep River as we drove over the Mississippi.  We even made a surprise trip to Iowa today!  Here are a few pictures from today and yesterday.

We ended up staying in Hannibal for two days.  The kids were tired and it was hot and threatening storms, so we settled in.  Hannibal is a picturesque little town located on the western shore of the Mississippi in northern Missouri.

Mark Twain was born Samuel Clemens in Florida, Missouri, November 30, 1865.  He moved to Hannibal when he was four, and lived there until he was seventeen.  Under the pen name of Mark Twain, Clemens wrote about Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn.
