OHIO - July 3rd

We left Colrain on July 2 at about 8:30 a.m.  As the enormity of what we were about to embark on hit, I began to shake and sob.  James prayed over us and off we went.  We left the Berkshires behind us and meandered through the Finger Lakes and wine country of New York state.  We landed in Hornell, New York, for the night, not far from Houghton, where Amanda went to school.  We left Hornell in the morning  and headed south towards Pennsylvania.  We went through the Allegheny National Forest and stopped at the Lunza Dam.  It was there that Meredith, aka Germaphobe Gertie committed the unpardonable sin.  She dumped the bag of real cheese curls all over the floor of the car.  I named her Germaphobe Gertie, because she thought I should throw them away.  Perfectly good cheese curls, not.  I've been nibbling them all day.  We had lunch today at Primanti Brothers in Grove City PA.  Those of you who watch the travel channel know what that is.  For those of you that don't, it's where they make the sandwiches with the french fries and coleslaw right in the sandwich.  Meredith had roast beef and I had pastrami.  It was over the top good and well worth it.  The land  has finally stopped being hilly and is beginning to flatten out.  I am looking forward to watching the terrain change as we go further west.  We live in an amazing country and  I'm anxious to take it all in.  We are staying in Poland, Ohio tonight and are hoping to make it to Indiana tomorrow.  So far, so good.

Here are some pictures of our day today.

  2. Tell Gertie that the 5-second rule has been scientifically proven. That fact that I and my 2 kids are alive proves that it can be stretched to 30 seconds or more.
